Magnetostrictive Measurement

Continuous Level Measurement

The magnetostrictive probe provides continuous measurement of product level inside the storage tank, allowing tank inventory changes to be monitored without relying on manual level checks.

Separate Water Level Detection

Water accumulation at the tank bottom is measured separately from the stored product level. This is useful for fuel storage applications where water presence needs to be monitored as part of tank management.

Multi-Point Temperature Measurement

Five temperature measurement points are integrated into the probe to collect product temperature at different positions within the tank.

One Probe for Multiple Tank Data

Product level, water level and temperature are obtained through the same probe assembly, reducing the need for separate measurement devices inside the tank.

Measurement Accuracy

Level Measurement Accuracy

The magnetostrictive probe provides ±0.5 mm measurement accuracy and ±0.2 mm repeat accuracy for tank level monitoring. The specified accuracy should be evaluated together with tank geometry, installation position and actual operating conditions when selecting the probe.

Resolution vs. Accuracy

The 0.01 mm oil and water level resolution indicates the smallest measurement increment reported by the system. It should not be interpreted as measurement accuracy or overall measurement uncertainty.

Probe Measurement Zone

The 60 mm upper blind spot and 50 mm lower blind spot define areas outside the effective measurement zone. Tank depth and the required measuring position should therefore be confirmed before selecting the probe specification.

Measuring Range & Compatible Liquids

Probe Measuring Range

Available probe measuring ranges cover 500–6000 mm. The required range should be selected according to tank depth and the section of the tank that needs to be monitored.

Listed Petroleum Products

The specified applications include gasoline, diesel, light oil, heavy oil and paraffin storage tanks.

Chemical Liquids

The listed chemical liquids include methanol, toluene, ethanol, acetic acid and ethyl ester.

Compatibility Confirmation

For chemical or non-standard liquids, compatibility should be confirmed against probe materials, seals and actual operating conditions before ordering.

Explosion Protection & Installation Requirements

Explosion Protection

Ex ia IIA T5 Ga explosion protection is available for hazardous-area tank monitoring applications. The applicable Ex configuration should be selected according to the installation requirements.

Safety Barrier

A Zener type safety barrier is used with the intrinsic-safety configuration to support installation in applicable hazardous areas.

Installation Conditions

Tank depth, required measuring zone, hazardous-area classification and power supply should be confirmed before selecting the gauge configuration.

Operating Temperature

The gauge operates from -30°C to +60°C. The installation environment should remain within the specified operating range.

Communication & System Integration

RS-485 Interface
The gauge uses an RS-485 interface for connection with compatible tank monitoring, control or data acquisition equipment.

Network Connection
The specified maximum communication distance is 1200 m. Actual cable selection and communication distance should be evaluated according to the installation layout and site conditions.

Device Addressing
Two-digit device addresses, such as 01–99, can be assigned for identifying individual gauges in a multi-device RS-485 network.

Communication Protocol
RS-485 communication is available for connection with compatible monitoring and control systems. Protocol compatibility can be confirmed according to the customer's system requirements.

FAQ

Q: Can the Automated Tank Gauge be supplied for replacement projects?

A: Yes. For replacement projects, provide the existing tank gauge information, tank dimensions, probe requirements and communication requirements so the replacement configuration can be checked.

Q: Can the tank volume table be configured for different tanks?

A: Yes. A tank table can be configured to convert measured tank level into corresponding volume data according to the tank geometry.

Q: What information is needed to confirm probe selection?

A: Tank depth, required measuring zone, stored liquid and installation conditions should be provided to determine the applicable probe configuration.

Q: Can multiple gauges be connected to the same RS-485 network?

A: Yes. Individual two-digit device addresses can be assigned for multi-device identification. Communication protocol compatibility should be confirmed with the receiving system.

Q: What packaging options are available for wholesale orders?

A: Standard export packaging is available. Product labeling and outer packaging requirements can be discussed for wholesale or project orders according to quantity and shipping requirements.

Q: What is the standard production lead time?

A: The stated shipping lead time is generally 15–20 days, subject to order quantity, configuration and production schedule.
