Automatic Tank Gauge System

Automatic Tank Gauge System is a tank monitoring solution for fuel and liquid storage applications, combining an ATG monitoring console with a magnetostrictive rigid rod probe. It measures product level, water level and temperature, while supporting tank configuration, tank volume calculation, alarm connection, RS232/RS485 communication and remote monitoring.

Product Overview

Automatic Tank Gauge System is a tank monitoring solution for fuel and liquid storage applications, combining an ATG monitoring console with a magnetostrictive rigid rod probe. It measures product level, water level and temperature, while supporting tank configuration, tank volume calculation, alarm connection, RS232/RS485 communication and remote monitoring.

ATG System Components

Centralized ATG Monitoring Console
The ATG console provides centralized tank monitoring and configuration through a color capacitive touchscreen. The Android-based interface supports tank and probe settings, tank table configuration, measurement display and remote access.

Magnetostrictive Rigid Rod Probe
The probe is installed inside the storage tank to measure product level, water level and product temperature. Magnetostrictive sensing detects the magnetic float position for liquid-level measurement.

Zener-Type Safety Barrier
The Zener-type safety barrier is used with the probe in the listed hazardous-area configuration, providing the associated interface between the probe and ATG console.

System Connection
Storage Tank → Magnetostrictive Probe → Zener-Type Safety Barrier → ATG Console → External Devices / Remote Monitoring

The probe collects tank data, the safety barrier provides the associated hazardous-area interface, and the ATG console displays and processes the measurements.

Communication & External Device Integration

RS232 & RS485 Communication Interfaces
The ATG system provides RS232 and RS485 communication interfaces for connection with external monitoring or control equipment.

RS485 Communication Distance
The maximum listed RS485 communication distance is up to 1200 m for extended cable runs between the ATG system and connected equipment.

Communication Addressing
The communication address uses a two-digit format, with examples including 01 and 99, for device identification within the communication system.

External Device Integration
Depending on the system configuration, the ATG console can interface with external audible and visual alarm devices, printers and overflow valve modules. These devices are optional and should be specified with their required quantities before ordering.

Protocol Compatibility
The applicable communication protocol and compatibility with the receiving monitoring or control equipment should be confirmed before system integration.

FAQ

Q: Does the system calculate tank volume directly from the measured liquid level?

A: Yes. Volume calculation uses the configured tank table to establish the relationship between measured liquid level and tank volume.

Q: Does the ATG system include the safety barrier?

A: The listed hazardous-area configuration uses a Zener-type safety barrier associated with the tank probe. The required configuration should be specified when ordering.

Q: Is RS485 communication compatible with any control system?

A: RS485 defines the communication interface. The applicable protocol and compatibility with the receiving monitoring or control equipment should be confirmed before integration.

Q: Can external alarms or printers be connected to the ATG console?

A: Yes. Audible and visual alarms, printers and overflow valve modules can be connected according to the selected system configuration.

Q: What information is required to select the probe?

A: Tank dimensions, required measuring range and installation arrangement should be provided to determine the appropriate probe configuration.

Q: What should be checked when monitoring a chemical liquid?

A: Confirm compatibility between the monitored liquid and the probe materials, seals and actual operating conditions before ordering.

Q: What is the usual production lead time?

A: Standard production is usually completed within 15–20 days, depending on order quantity and production season
